Biography

Originally known as The Queerboys, Spike Gray's gang of hard-partying, good-time blues rockers took the spirit and swagger of bands like The Faces and Led Zeppelin, and lived by the mantra "We are The Quireboys...and this is rock'n'roll". Managed by Sharon Osbourne, gigs at The Marquee club soon built a growing reputation and debut album A Bit of What You Fancy (1990) shot to Number 2 in the UK charts with single Hey You becoming a small hit. They supported The Rolling Stones, Guns N' Roses and David Bowie, but the release of second album Bitter Sweet & Twisted (1993) coincided with the upsurge of the grunge movement and made the band seem dated. Despite splitting in 1993, they reformed permanently in 2001 and continue to play to a dedicated fan base across Europe, celebrating the 20th anniversary of A Bit Of What You Fancy by re-releasing the classic album.
