The Orange County Supertones, also known as The O.C. Supertones or simply The Supertones, were a Christian ska band from Orange County, California. The band began in the early 1990s as Saved before forming in 1995 as The Orange County Supertones with Matt Morginsky, Jason Carson, and Tony Terusa, settling on a ska-based sound. Their debut release, Adventures of the O.C. Supertones, received a 1997 Dove nomination for "Alternate / Modern Rock." The band's second album, Supertones Strike Back (1997), peaked at number 3 on Billboardâs Heatseekers chart and number 2 on Top Christian Albums. They toured extensively, including the late 1990s âSkamania 98â tour, and performed for Pope John Paul IIâs visit to St. Louis in 1999. The Supertones continued to release albums until their initial disbandment in 2005, marked by a final show at Biola University on October 7, 2005.
