Biography

With a highly original style variously described as "soulful ska with raw folk and a punk rock attitude" and "conscious rude boy ska", The King Blues have evolved a unique take on reggae that brings it firmly into the 21st Century. Itch and Jamie Jazz originally got together as a duo playing ukulele and acoustic guitars in London squats, gradually adding extra members as they developed their homespun mix of punk and reggae. They recorded their debut album Under The Fog in their living room in 2006 and their single Mr Music Man was voted best punk song of the year by Radio 1. Second album Save The World, Get The Girl followed in 2008 as the band expanded their line-up and developed their reputation both for their sense of humour and a strong political conscience. Whilst picking up widespread airplay for their singles What If Punk Never Happened and Let's Hang The Landlord, they were also dogged by controversy as one of the members - Fruitbag - left claiming success had gone to their heads. In 2010 they worked on their third album Punk & Poetry.
