Biography
L.A.-based quartet The Interrupters formed in 2011 and is comprised of vocalist Amie Allen and brothers Kevin, Justin, and Jesse Bivona. The band was inspired by the late 1970s 2-Tone movement and the ska punk scene of the â90s. Allen had already achieved some success as a solo artist with her albums Iâd Start a Revolution If I Could Get Up in the Morning (2003) and A Little Happiness (2009). Her other credits include collaborations and session work with Black-Eyed Peas and Jimmy Cliff. In 2009, Allen shared a concert bill with the band Telecasters, which featured the Bivona brothers. They bonded over a shared passion for ska punk and eventually formed The Interrupters in 2011. The band built a following through their local live shows and tours with bands like Rancid and The Transplants. They signed to Hellcat Records and released their self-titled debut album â produced by Rancidâs Tim Armstrong - in 2014. The band spent the next two years touring and writing new material. They released their Armstrong-produced sophomore album, Say It Out Loud, in 2016. The album was well-received by fans and critics. Their third album, Fight the Good Fight, was released in 2018. In 2019, the band recorded a cover of Billy Eilishâs âBad Boyâ, which brought them more mainstream attention, introducing them to a wider audience.
