Biography
The Impossible Shapes was an American indie rock, psychedelic, and folk group from Bloomington, Indiana, formed in 1998. The members are Chris Barth, Aaron Deer, Mark Rice, Jason Groth, and Peter King. The ensemble released the debut album The Great Migration in 2000 through Recordhead. In 2002, the band released the albums Laughter Fills Our Hollow Dome and The Current. The group subsequently released Bless the Headless and We Like it Wild in 2003. The Impossible Shapes signed with the label Secretly Canadian and released the albums Horus (2005), Tum (2006), and the self-titled studio album The Impossible Shapes (2008). The ensemble performed with artists including Wilco, Guided By Voices, Interpol, and Jens Lekman. Members also performed in the groups Songs: Ohia and Magnolia Electric Co. The band became inactive in July 2009.
