Biography
Clockhammer was an alternative metal group from Nashville, Tennessee, formed in 1987 by Vanderbilt University undergrads Christian Nagle and Matt Swanson. The initial lineup included Byron Bailey on vocals and guitar, Ken Coomer on drums, and Swanson on bass. Clockhammer quickly gained a local following, opening for bands like Firehose and Meat Puppets. Their debut album Clockhammer was released in 1991 under First Warning label, featuring notable tracks such as âExtra Crispyâ and âSun Goes Blackâ. The group's music became popular on the college radio scene, but internal conflicts led to Bailey's departure in 1991. Clockhammer reformed in 1993 with Mark Smoot on bass and Chris Gallo on drums, releasing their final album So Much For You in 1994 under Houses In Motion label. The band disbanded amicably in 1995 due to various concerns including family and management issues.
