Biography

The D'Urbervilles were a Canadian indie rock band from Guelph, Ontario. Formed in 2005 while members were students at the University of Guelph, the group initially consisted of John O'Regan (lead vocals/guitar/keyboard), Tim Bruton (guitar/synth), Kyle Donnelly (bass), and drummer C.L. Smith. Their debut EP The D'Urbervilles was independently released in 2006, reaching number 37 on the earshot! Canadian campus and community radio charts for May of that year. The band toured extensively and recorded their debut album We Are the Hunters, which was released in 2008 by Toronto label Out of This Spark. The album peaked at number 13 on the earshot! charts in March 2008. In March 2011, the band changed their name to Matters to reflect a shift in musical direction and visual style.
