Biography

Gangsta-funk group The Dove Shack formed in 1994 in Long Beach, California. The group's three members — Bo Roc, 2Scoops, and C-Knight — first appeared on Warren G's 1994 debut album, Regulate… G Funk Era, contributing to the song "This Is the Shack." One year later, they released their debut album. Also entitled This Is the Shack, the record climbed to number 13 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, driven in part by the success of the lead single "Summertime in the LBC." A number 11 hit on Billboard's Hot Rap Songs, "Summertime in the LBC" was the band's biggest hit, eventually going gold. "We Funk (The G Funk)," the group's second single, stalled at number 44 on the rap charts, and The Dove Shack waited more than a decade before releasing a follow-up to This Is The Shack. During the interim, C-Knight briefly pursued a solo career with 2001's Knight Time. Released in 2006, Reality Has Got Me Tied Up marked the temporary return the The Dove Shack. Although hitmakers like Nate Dogg and Cam made cameos on the album, Reality Has Got Me Tied Up was a commercial disappointment. The Dove Shack embarked upon an indefinite hiatus shortly after its release, with 2Scoop and Bo Roc both releasing their own solo debut albums in 2010. On November 7, 2023, original member C-Knight died from complications of a stroke at the age of 52.
