Biography

The Dallas Boys, a five-piece vocal group from Leicester, England, formed in the 1950s. The band consisted of Joe Smith, Stan Jones, Bob Wragg, Leon Fisk, and Nicky Clarke, and have been referred to as “Britain’s first boy band.” Their breakthrough came after winning a Butlins talent contest, leading to regular appearances on the TV show Six-Five Special. They became household names in the late 1950s through their performances on Oh Boy! and continued to perform throughout the 1960s on various British TV shows. The group released several albums including Five Alive-O (1974) and notable singles such as “He Won’t Love You (Like I Do)” (1967). They disbanded in the early 1970s, but reunited in 1988 to perform at a concert celebrating Cliff Richard's thirty years in entertainment. Several members have since passed away: Nicky Clarke in 2010, Joe Smith in 2012, Bob Wragg in 2019, and Stan Jones in 2025.
