The Arusha Accord, a British mathcore group from Reading, England, was formed in 2005 by James Clayton, Tom Hollings, Luke Williams, and Mark Vincent. The band's name is inspired by the Arusha Accords, a significant peace agreement during the Rwandan Civil War. After meeting at primary school, the members added singers Alex Green and Paul Green to complete the band. Following three years of writing and rehearsing, they released their debut EP Nightmares of the Ocean in 2008 on Basick Records. In 2011, after signing with Century Media Records and ADA, a subsidiary of Warner Music Group, The Arusha Accord re-released their first album, The Echo Verses, which included bonus tracks from their EP. The band announced a hiatus in 2010 but announced it would return in 2013.
