Biography

Ricardo DaSilva II, known professionally as Swingfly, was born in New York and later relocated to Stockholm, Sweden, in 1991, where he entered the burgeoning hip‑hop scene. His first major exposure came in 1995 with the Euro‑disco hit "Sweet Dreams" alongside Dr. Alban, which peaked at Number 12 on the Swedish charts and charted in the Netherlands. In 1996 he contributed to several tracks on ADL’s Absent Minded project, and later collaborated with the collective Blacknuss, performing across Europe and the UK. Swingfly’s breakthrough on Swedish radio arrived in 2004 with Teddybears’ "Hey Boy", which remained on the Swedish Singles Top 60 for 21 weeks and peaked at Number 13. He signed with Dolores Recordings and released a series of singles in 2006, though a planned album was delayed. In 2008, "Singing That Melody" was issued, followed by the 2009 album God Bless the IRS. Swingfly entered Melodifestivalen 2011 with "Me and My Drum", finishing fifth and reaching Number 2 on the Swedish Singles Chart. Subsequent releases included "Touch And Go" (2009) and "God Damn Beautiful" (2013). Throughout his career, Swingfly collaborated with artists such as Dr. Alban, Teddybears, and Blacknuss, and his tracks appeared in television series, sports broadcasts, and commercial campaigns.
