Biography

Steve Marriner, born in 1984 in Ottawa, Ontario, is a Canadian multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He began playing harmonica at age eleven and by thirteen was performing with Tony Diteodoro. In 1999, Marriner won the Ottawa Blues Harp Blow-Off, leading to performances at Ottawa Bluesfest and recording sessions for Whippersnapper. He toured with JW-Jones Blues Band from 2000 to 2003 and collaborated with Harry Manx from 2004 to 2007. Marriner's debut solo album, Going Up, was released in 2007 on Dog My Cat Records. In 2008, he formed MonkeyJunk, serving as frontman and baritone guitarist. The band's album To Behold won the Juno Award for Blues Album of the Year in 2012. Marriner has also produced albums for Drew Nelson and A.J. Fullerton. He received multiple Maple Blues Awards, including Harmonica Player of the Year from 2008 to 2013 and Acoustic Act of the Year in 2022.
