Biography

Robert Finley was born on February 13, 1954 in Bernice, Louisiana. He began playing guitar at age 11 after purchasing one from a thrift store. In 2016, Music Maker Relief Foundation helped facilitate his comeback and he released his debut album Age Don't Mean a Thing. Finley collaborated with Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys for subsequent albums including Goin' Platinum! (December 8, 2017), Sharecropper's Son (May 21, 2021) and Black Bayou (October 2023). For October 10, 2025 release Hallelujah! Don’t Let the Devil Fool Ya, Finley drew deeply from his passion for gospel music, weaving his gritty Southern blues with spiritual undertones. His daughter, Christy Johnson returned to provide backing vocals, while Dan Auerbach once again handled production. He also appeared on the fourteenth season of America's Got Talent in 2019.
