Mario John Treadway, known as Souleye, and born on May 3, 1980, in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, is a hip-hop artist. He began rapping in high school and later traveled extensively across the United States before settling into his music career. In 2001, Souleye started performing with the Transcendental Alliance. His debut album Soul Sessions was released in 2003. Following personal tragedies, including the death of his brother, Souleye released UniverSoul Alchemy in 2004. In 2006, he collaborated with producer Samuel "Sleepyhead" Pohner to release Intergalactic Vibes, which won a new music contest sponsored by Relix and led to performances on Jamcruise 4. He married singer-actress Alanis Morissette in 2010. Subsequent albums include Iron Horse Running (2013), Shapeshifting (2015), Wildman (2017), Soul School (2019), and Hunting Teardrops (2021). Notable collaborations include work with Michael Franti and Bassnectar. Souleye's 14th album, Floating in Plasma, was released in 2025.
