Sleep Chamber, an American industrial noise band formed in 1981, was fronted by John Zewizz alongside high school friends Eugene Difrancisco and Phil Brosseau. Their early works were experimental and electronic/industrial, debuting with the EP The Sleep Chamber in 1982. Known for live performances resembling a "Black Mass," featuring smoke machines and bondage masks, the band continued to release albums such as Submit To Desire and Spellbondage. The band's lineup frequently changed, with Zewizz as the sole permanent member. In the 1990s, Sleep Chamber incorporated bondage-fetish dancers known as The Barbichuettes into their live shows, boosting their popularity. This period saw releases like Sleep, Or Forever Hold Your Piece and Siamese Succubi, featuring collaborations with Elaine Walker and Ashley Swanson. Despite legal issues and personal struggles, including a 1995 murder investigation, Sleep Chamber continued touring and releasing music. Their most ambitious project was a 1997 tour of Germany. The band returned in 2008 with new releases under the revised name SLEEPCHAMBER.
