Biography

Andrew James Ramanauskas, known professionally as Sgt. Slick, was born in Melbourne, Australia, and emerged as a house music DJ and producer. After developing his skills in local clubs, he released the debut single "White Treble, Black Bass" in May 1998, which peaked at Number 69 on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart and topped club charts in Australia and Europe, earning him the 1998 ARIA Award for Best Dance Release. In July 2001 he followed with "Let It Ride", reaching Number 95 on the ARIA Charts and receiving a nomination for Best Dance Release at the 2001 ARIA Awards. Subsequent releases included "Sax Addict" (2008), sustaining his presence on global club charts. The EP Black Bass was issued in 2019, coinciding with his return to Melbourne after a seven‑year stint in the United States. In February 2020 he released a cover of ABBA’s "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!", and in July 2023 collaborated with INXS on "Just Keep Walking".
