Biography

Seattle Men’s Chorus, a Seattle-based choir, was founded in 1979 as an LGBTQ community chorus. The group held its first rehearsal in September of that year and performed its inaugural concert at the Museum of History and Industry in spring 1980. Dennis Coleman became the chorus's conductor in May 1981, and the chorus subsequently became a founding member of GALA Choruses in July 1983. The chorus marked the 25th anniversary of Stonewall by marching in the New York City Pride Parade and performing at Carnegie Hall with the New York City Chorus. Notable performances include collaborations with celebrities like Kristin Chenoweth, Tituss Burgess, and Debbie Reynolds. The chorus has released several albums, including The Pink Album (1996), Bustin' Out All Over (2000) and We are Family (2005). In June 2023, Seattle Men’s Chorus partnered with Disney for Disney Pride in Concert at the Paramount Theatre.
