Sarah Engels and Pietro Lombardi formed the German pop duo Sarah & Pietro after meeting on the eighth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar in 2011, where Lombardi finished first and Engels second. Their partnership began publicly when the couple married in March 2013, and Engels adopted the surname Lombardi. The duo’s breakthrough came with the single "Dream Team" released in 2013, which reached number 41 on the German singles chart. The album Dream Team followed shortly after, reaching number 33 in Germany. In June 2015, they released the German-language single "Nimmerland" as the title track for their second documentary series, charting at number 32 in Germany. Their third studio album, Teil von Mir, issued in 2016, included the lead single "Nur Mit Dir" dedicated to their son, which reached number 40 in Germany. In 2013, they received a Bravo Otto for Hot Couple of the Year, and in 2016, the InTouch Awards honored them as Couple of the Year. The couple announced their separation in October 2016, concluding the duo’s active collaboration.
