Biography

Lena Meyer-Landrut, born on May 23, 1991 in Hanover, is a German pop singer and songwriter who is mainly known in a musical context by her first name Lena. Even as a child, Lena made appearances on German television. Her application in the talent show Unser Star für Oslo led to her being allowed to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in Norway. She wins the contest with her song "Satellite", laying the foundations for a successful international career as a singer. Two days after the final, the winning song climbed to number one in the Norwegian charts, and then went on to top the charts in Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, Denmark and Germany. In the same year, Lena released her debut album My Cassette Player and reached the top of the German album charts with both the LP and its successor Good News (2011). At the 2011 Echo Awards, she won two Echos and became the first German artist to have six songs in the top 100 of the German singles charts at the same time. Her album Stardust, released in 2012, reaches number 2 in the German album charts, as does Crystal Sky from 2015. She tours internationally and appears as a judge and coach on the talent show The Voice Kids. In April 2019, she released her fifth studio album Only Love, L and the single "Better" together with Nico Santos. in 2021, Lena returns with "Strip" and the song stays in the German charts for 13 weeks.
