Rudimentary Peni, a British anarcho-punk band formed in 1980 in Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire. The group consisted of Nick Blinko on vocals and guitar, Jon Greville on drums, and Grant Matthews on bass. Blinko and Greville had previously collaborated as the experimental electronic duo the Magits before forming Rudimentary Peni. Their first EP, Rudimentary Peni, was released in 1981, followed by their second EP, Farce, in 1982 through Crass Records. The band's debut studio album, Death Church, was released in 1983 and reached number 3 on the UK Indie Chart. Rudimentary Peni stopped performing live in the mid-1980s due to Matthews' cancer diagnosis, but resumed recording with Cacophony in 1988. The band continued releasing albums, including Pope Adrian 37th Psychristiatric (1995) and Great War (2021).
