Biography

The Exploited, a Scottish punk rock band from Edinburgh, formed in 1978. The group initially comprised Wattie Buchan on vocals and several other members who would evolve over time. Their early music blended classic punk rock with elements of punk hardcore and oi!, creating a fast-paced and energetic sound. The Exploited released their debut album Punk's Not Dead in 1981, which reached number 20 on the UK charts. The album featured notable tracks such as "Cops Car", "I Believe in Anarchy" and "Sex and Violence". In 1982, they followed up with Troops of Tomorrow, known for its post-apocalyptic cover art and politically charged lyrics. The band continued to release influential albums throughout the decade, including Let's Start a War...Said Maggie One Day in 1983 and Horror Epics in 1985. By the late 1980s, their music began incorporating elements of thrash metal, as heard on Death Before Dishonour (1987). The band's crossover thrash album The Massacre, released in 1990, became their best-selling record. In the following years, they continued to release albums such as Beat the Bastards (1996) and Fuck the System (2003), maintaining a strong presence in the punk rock scene.
