Biography

Roxx Gang was formed in 1982 in St. Petersburg, Florida, by vocalist Kevin Steele and guitarist Eric Carrell, who later died in 1986. The early lineup evolved through the 1980s, with Steele fronting the group as a glam‑metal act that blended hard‑rock riffs and theatrical stage presence. In 1987 the band attracted record‑company attention with the demo Love 'Em and Leave 'Em, leading to a contract with Virgin Records and the release of their debut studio album Things You've Never Done Before in 1988; the album spawned the singles "No Easy Way Out" and "Scratch My Back" and sold a quarter million copies worldwide. Following internal disputes and label issues, the original lineup dissolved in 1991, and Steele reassembled the band with former members Roby “Strychnine” Strine, Dallas Perkins, and drummer Andy James, producing The Voodoo You Love in 1995 and subsequent releases such as Old, New, Borrowed & Blue (1998) and Drinkin' T.N.T. and Smokin' Dynamite (2000). The group also recorded Bodacious Ta Tas: The Best of Roxx Gang in 2001, a compilation that highlighted their catalog. In 2006, tracks from Things You've Never Done Before were featured in the video game Saints Row, extending the band’s cultural reach. The band’s final lineup disbanded in the early 2000s, and member Dorian Sage passed away in 2021.
