Rissi Palmer, born August 19, 1981, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, is an American singer. At age 16, she performed country music at the Arkansas State Fair. In 2007, Palmer debuted with the single "Country Girl", becoming the first African-American woman to chart a country song since 1988. The single peaked at number 54 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts and was included in her self-titled debut album, which also produced the Top 100 hit "Hold On to Me". In 2008, Palmer covered "No Air", an R&B hit originally performed by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown, reaching number 47 on the Hot Country Songs chart. After a legal dispute with her label in 2009, she released The Back Porch Sessions EP in 2015, which received positive reviews. Her full-length album Revival, produced by Brian Owens and Shannon Sanders, was released in 2019.
