Biography

The American country band Trick Pony were formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 1996 and released their critically-acclaimed self-titled debut album four years later in 2000. The band was the brainchild of Nashville backing musicians Keith Burns and Ira Dean, both of whom were respected musicians in their own right having played with the artists Joe Diffie and Tanya Tucker respectively. The two men drafted in Heidi Newfield on vocals and launched themselves as a country trio touring extensively throughout the Southern States for the next few years building up a fan base. Their hard work paid off and the debut album reached number 12 in the Country charts and produced three hit singles, the most successful being 'On a Night Like This' which peaked at number four in the charts. After two more albums Newfield decided to leave the band in 2006 and the band replaced her the following year with Aubrey Collins. Collins left the band within a few months of making her debut appearance and in 2008 the band split up. The group reformed in 2013 and halfway through recording material for a forthcoming album Dean announced his departure leaving Newfield and Burns to continue as a duo. Their most recent release was an EP titled 'Pony Up' which came out in 2016.
