José "Ray" Heredia Bermúdez, also known as Ray Heredia, born on May 25, 1963, in Madrid, Spain, was a Spanish singer and composer. Born into a family of flamenco dancers, his father being the renowned dancer El Josele, Heredia began his musical career as a member of Ketama, where he served as a singer, guitarist, percussionist, and songwriter. His versatility earned him the nickname "el Prince Español." After contributing to Ketama's self-titled debut album in 1985, Heredia embarked on a solo career with Quien no corre, vuela (1991). Tragically, he passed away on July 17, 1991, due to a drug overdose. His song "AlegrÃa de vivir" from his album was the soundtrack for the film Sobreviviré (1999), which became a commercial success. In 2016, an homage album titled Por Ray Heredia was released, featuring various artists performing his songs.
