Biography

Juan Miguel Ramírez Sarabia, known as Chano Lobato, was born on December 7, 1927, in Cádiz, Spain, and was a flamenco singer. He started his career singing flamenco in local tablaos, including Venta La Palma. His professional debut came in Madrid with Pepe Blanco, leading to his inclusion in Alejandro Vega's ballet company. For two decades, Lobato performed as a cantaor de atrás with Antonio "El Bailarín," touring internationally. He collaborated with prominent bailaoras, including Matilde Coral and Carmen Amaya. In 1974, he won the Enrique el Mellizo prize at the Concurso Nacional de Córdoba. He received the Premio Ondas in 1999 and was named Hijo Predilecto de la provincia de Cádiz in 2000. Lobato passed away on April 5, 2009.
