Pastora Pavón Cruz, known as La Niña de los Peines, was born on February 10, 1890, in Séville, Spain. She began singing at age eight in local taverns and during the Feria de Abril. Her professional debut came at the Taberna de Ceferino. In 1901, she moved to Madrid, performing at cafés like Café de la Marina. She received her nickname from a flamenco tango lyric. Returning to Andalusia, she collaborated with notable singers and made her first recordings in 1910. By 1920, she was performing at the Teatro Romea. In 1922, she participated in the Cante Jondo competition, solidifying her professional status. La Niña de los Peines passed away on November 26, 1969.
