Biography

José Torres Garzón, known professionally as Pepe Pinto, was born on July 22, 1903, in Seville, Spain, and was a flamenco singer. He began his career as a flamenco singer in 1917 when he performed at the Café Novedades alongside future flamenco stars El Carbonerillo and Pepe Marchena. His first professional engagement came in 1927, leading to early recordings and tours with various artistic ensembles. In 1931, Pepe Pinto married fellow cantaora La Niña de los Peines, and together they embarked on extensive tours across Spain. Notable performances included a 1940 appearance in the show Las calles de Cádiz, starring Concha Piquer. He was known for his extensive flamenco repertoire and vocal prowess. Pepe Pinto passed away on November 6, 1969, in Seville.
