Biography
Rantanplan is a ska-punk band from Germany that was founded in 1995. Musically, the band moves between rock, ska and punk. A sung poem, for example by Rainer Maria Rilke, Bertolt Brecht or Friedrich Nitzsche, becomes the band's trademark on many albums. In 1996, Rantanplan released their debut album Kein Schulterklopfen (Gegen den Trend). The band went on to regularly release albums and EPs. In 2017, the album Licht und Schatten made it into the charts for the first time at number 71. The follow-up Stay Rudel - Stay Rebel even made it to number 31 in the German album charts in 2019. The year 2023 starts even more successfully for Rantanplan. The band made it to number 11 with the album Ahoi. 2024 saw the release of the double album Live, Ãbel und Gefährlich. In September 2025, Rantanplan released another live album, Blast Off NY - A DFS Live Studio Session. The album climbs to number 27 in the German charts.
