Founded in 1992 by childhood friends Sammy Amara and Andreas Brügge when they were just twelve years old in their hometown of Düsseldorf, the German punk-rock band Broilers developed a masterful command of various rock and roll sounds. Drawing inspiration from seminal British punks like The Clash and Sex Pistols, they eventually added guitarist Peter Gossen and bass player Ines Maybaum. That line up created the groupâs debut EP, 1996âs Give Me a Flower. Their debut LP, Torches in the Stormâ¦Poor Lights in the Wind, followed the next year. After a line up change that brought on a new guitarist and 2001âs Losers Look Different, they scored a charting album with their third LP, 2004âs LoFi. Incessant touring continued to grow their fanbase and 2007âs Vanitas landed in the top 40 while also dropping many of the punk trappings of their earlier sound and embracing a hard rock aesthetic. They ould become one of the most successful German band throughout the next decade releasing a trio of albumsâ2011âs Santa Muerte, 2014âs Noirm and 2017âs (Sic!)âthat landed in the top 5 with the final two both going to Number 1. They returned in 2021 with the single âAlles wird wieder OK!â, which gave them another top 40 hit in their homeland.
