Biography

German politically minded punk troupe Feine Sahne Fischfilet formed in 2007 in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, steered by frontman Jan Gorkow and often taking a stance against the far-right, the state, and fascism, which has got the band in trouble with the Office for the Protection of the Constitution and the Federal Inspection Office for Media Harmful to Young Persons. The group began their career with Backstage mit Freunden in 2009 and Wut im Bauch, Trauer im Herzen a year later — both released via Diffidati Records. Scheitern & Verstehen came next in 2012. In 2013, they won the Courage Prize of the Linksfraktion at the Landtag of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. A further string of albums and singles followed, with Bleiben oder Gehen reaching number 21 on the German charts in 2015. Two years later, a film directed by Charly Hübner, Wildes Herz, documented the band's work to date and premiered at the Leipzig DOK Film Festival. In 2018, the band were in the running to win the Best German Act award at the MTV Europe Music Awards and they also released the album Sturm & Dreck, anchored by the singles "Zuhause" and "Niemand wie ihr." Sturm & Dreck went to number three in Germany, number 12 in Austria, and number 30 in Switzerland. A new album surfaced five years after the release of Sturm & Dreck, Alles Glänzt, which soared all the way to number 3 in Germany.
