Biography
Maxwell Grant, known professionally as Ranking Trevor, was born on January 20, 1960. He began his career as a DJ in the 1970s, starting to record at age fifteen. In the mid-1970s, he recorded at Channel One and deejayed on the Socialist Roots sound system. Notable singles from this period include "Cave Man Skank" and "Three Piece Chicken & Chips", which gained popularity among British reggae fans. His debut album, In Fine Style, was released in 1978 under Virgin Records' Front Line label. He moved to London in the mid-1980s but returned to Jamaica later in life. Grant died on August 7, 2012, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
