Biography
Brother Noland is an American musician and author known for his contributions to Hawaiian music and slack-key guitar. Raised in a musical family, he began performing in clubs during his teenage years in the 1960s. His breakthrough came with songs like "Coconut Woman," which became widely recognized and influential in Hawaiian music. In 2014, the Hawaii State House of Representatives recognized Noland for his lifetime achievements and impact on island music. He has released several albums, including Talking to the Rain (1975), Pacific Bad Boy (1978), and Speaking Brown (1980). In 2019, he was honored by the Hawaiâi Academy of Recording Arts with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Brother Noland is also an author, having published Lessons of Aloha in 1999.
