Biography

Burning Flames, an Antiguan Soca music band from St. John, formed in 1984 with three brothers—Toriano "King Onyan" Edwards, David "Bubb-I/Krokuss/Lord Satellite/Natural Rampler" Edwards, and Clarence "Oungku" Edwards—and their nephew Rone "Foxx" Watkins. The band's early success came with the single "Stiley Tight", which won them their first Antigua Carnival Road March title in 1985. They signed to Mango Records in 1991, releasing Dig and winning multiple Road March titles between 1991 and 1996. Notable songs include "Workey Workey" (1989) and "Mash it Up" (2001). Toriano Edwards embarked on a solo career as King Onyan in 1997, winning four Calypso Monarch titles. Clarence "Oungku" Edwards left the band in 2005 to form Red Hot Flames. The band continued with various lineup changes and released several albums, including Phenomenal Supa Soca (2002) and Venom (2003).
