Biography

Bob & Marcia, a Jamaican vocal duo consisting of Bob Andy and Marcia Griffiths, emerged from the vibrant music scene of Jamaica. Their partnership began in the late 1960s, marking an early breakthrough with their first single "Tumbling Tears / Always Together" released in 1968. The duo quickly gained traction with subsequent releases such as "Young, Gifted And Black / Do You Wanna Dance" and "Get Ourselves Together (Vamos Juntos) / Festival Spirit (Espiritu Festivo)", both released in 1970. Their debut album Young Gifted and Black was released in 1970 under the Trojan and Harry J labels. The title track, "Young, Gifted And Black", became a significant hit, reaching number 5 on the UK Singles Chart. This success was followed by another notable single, "Pied Piper", which peaked at number 11 in the UK Singles Chart in 1971. Both releases spent a total of twenty-five weeks on the chart within less than eighteen months. Their subsequent albums included Pied Piper (1971) and Sweet Memories (1976). Despite their musical achievements, Bob & Marcia discontinued their partnership in the mid-1970s due to financial dissatisfaction. Post-disbandment, notable releases include Kemar (1977) and compilations such as Pied Piper - The Best Of Bob & Marcia (2002). In 2017, the duo released the live album An Evening with Bob & Marcia via VP and Upstairs Music.
