Biography

Pretty Poison, a dance group based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, formed in 1981. The group consisted of Jade Starling as lead vocalist, Whey Cooler on keyboards and guitar, Kaya Pryor on percussion, Thomas Hays on guitar, and Lou Franco on guitar. Pretty Poison's initial breakthrough came with the release of "Nighttime" in 1984, which reached number 14 on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play chart under the Svengali label. In 1987, their song "Catch Me (I'm Falling)" gained significant traction after being featured in the Jon Cryer movie Hiding Out. With heavy MTV exposure, it became a top 10 hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 8, and topped the dance chart. A re-recorded version of "Nighttime" in 1988 climbed to number 36 on the Hot 100. Pretty Poison opened for The Clockmen in May 1986 at Drexel University's Battle of the Bands. Throughout their career, they released several albums including Laced (1983), Catch Me I'm Falling (1988), and Euphoria (1998). They released a new version of "Catch Me (I'm Falling)", which hit number 43 in 1998. In February 2009, they released the song "Finga Lickin' Good" on streaming platforms.
