Biography

American singer, songwriter, dancer, and actress Stacey Lynn Swain, known professionally as Stacey Q, was born on November 30, 1958, in Fullerton, California. She began her career with a strong background in dance, after studying ballet for eleven years and performing at Disneyland's Christmas Fantasy on Parade events. In 1981, Swain joined the synthpop group Q, which later evolved into SSQ due to copyright issues. The band released their debut album Playback in 1983 under Enigma Records, featuring the single "Synthicide". In 1985, Swain signed with Columbia Records and released her debut solo single "Shy Girl" under the moniker Stacey Q. She later signed with Atlantic Records and recorded the album Better Than Heaven in three weeks. The lead single from this album, "Two of Hearts", reached number 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and topped the charts in Canada, becoming her most successful song. Following the release of Hard Machine in 1988, Swain continued to perform and record, releasing Nights Like This in 1989. After a considerable hiatus, she returned in 2010 with Color Me Cinnamon.
