Biography

The Jets, a Tongan-American family band from Robbinsdale, Minnesota, originally formed in 1977 and comprised siblings LeRoy Wolfgramm, Eddie Wolfgramm, Eugene Wolfgramm, Haini Wolfgramm, Rudy Wolfgramm, Kathi Wolfgramm, Elizabeth Wolfgramm, and Moana Wolfgramm. At first, the group performed under the name Quasar before changing to The Jets, inspired by Elton John's "Bennie and the Jets". The band achieved significant success between 1985 and 1990, producing five top-10 hits on the US Billboard Hot 100, including "Crush on You", which peaked at number three in July 1986. Other notable singles include "You Got It All" and "Cross My Broken Heart". The Jets were up for a Grammy Award in 1988 for the song "Rocket 2 U" and performed at major events such as the 1987 World Series, the 1988 Summer Olympics, and the 2002 Winter Olympics. Eugene Wolfgramm died on 15 April 2024 at the age of 57 while the band continued to tour with two separate groups featuring original members: The Jets and The Jets Original Family Band.
