Pitchblende was an American four-piece art punk band from Washington, D.C. The group consisted of Justin Chearno on guitar, Scott DeSimon on bass guitar, Patrick Gough on drums, and Treiops Treyfid on guitar. Their debut release was the single "Sum"/"Lacquer Box" in 1992. Pitchblende's dense, angular sound was often compared to contemporary music scenes in New York City and Chicago. The band released three albums, including Kill Atom Smasher (1993), Au Jus (1994), and Gygax! (1995). Notable singles include "Karoshi" (1993) and "Psychic Power Control" (1994). The band disbanded in 1995. Justin Chearno died on August 22, 2024, at the age of 54.
