Biography

Papashanty SaundSystem, a Venezuelan band that blended different musical genres such as ska, reggae, dancehall, hip hop, and drum and bass, was formed in Caracas in 2002 from a casual encounter of experienced musicians. Their debut album, Ashanty Granpa, was released on April 23, 2005, featuring tracks like "Melodic Dub" and "Música de Paz". They participated in notable festivals including the Festival Nuevas Bandas 2003 and the Festival Día de la Juventud 2004, both held in Caracas. Papashanty SaundSystem also received several accolades, such as being named the Best Live Band of 2003 by Pop & Rock Awards and Amnesty International's Ambassador Band in 2004.
