David Pajo, born June 25, 1968, in Louisville, Kentucky, is an American musician who has worked in several genres such as hardcore punk, post-rock, math rock, folk rock, and indie pop. He started his career with local hardcore bands Obscene Routine and Maurice before joining Slint, contributing to their post-rock album Spiderland (1991). After Slint's breakup, Pajo collaborated with various artists including Will Oldham, Tortoise, Stereolab, and Interpol. As Papa M, he released notable albums such as Live from a Shark Cage (1999), Whatever Mortal (2001), and Hole of Burning Alms (2004). Pajo also performed with bands like Zwan and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. In 2005, he reunited with Slint for a tour and released his first solo album under his real name, Pajo. His later works include 1968 (2006) and Scream with Me (2009).
