Paloalto, formed in Losâ¯Angeles, California, was fronted by James Grundler. Grundler had previously been in The Din Pedals before signing with Rick Rubinâs American Recordings. The groupâs first single, âSonnyâ, appeared in 2000, followed by the selfâtitled debut album Paloalto the same year, establishing a foothold in the United States alternative rock scene. In 2003, the band released Heroes and Villains, which reached number 14 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, featuring the track âBreathe Inâ that appeared on The O.C. and the film Hellboy. Subsequent releases included the single âFade Out/Inâ in 2002 and the selfâreleased single âDonât Give Up Before You Startâ in 2014 after a brief reunion at The Viper Room. Postâband, Grundler continued recording under Golden State, while Paloaltoâs catalog remained cited in film and television soundtracks such as The Perfect Score and the Daredevil: The Album soundtrack.
