Biography
Pachanga, a Puerto Rican Latin and reggaeton duo, was formed in 2004 by Jay Del Alma from Brazil and Rico Caliente from Spain. The group gained prominence with their debut single "Loco" in 2005, which peaked at number 17 on the German Single Charts and reached Number 1 on the MTV Ringtone Charts. Their follow-up EP Close To You was released in August 2006, featuring the hit single "Close to You", which reached number 16 in Germany. Other notable songs from this period include "I Don't Like Reggae-Ton" (2007) and "Calienta" (2008), Rico Caliente left the band in 2011, leading to a four-year hiatus. During this time, Jay Del Alma pursued a solo career, releasing his first solo hit "Mi Corazon" in Germany in 2009. After the breakup, Pachanga reunited in 2015 with Chilean MC Sesman replacing Rico Caliente. Their comeback album La Era Positiva featured collaborations with Canadian singer Massari and Brick & Lace's Nyanda. The main single from the album, "Vida positiva", landed in the Top 10 on the German DJ Black / Pop Charts. Over the next few years, the duo released a few non-album singles, including "Latino en New York" (2016), "Enamorado de Ti" (2017), and "MastÃcalo" (2018).
