Biography

Wolfgang Edenharder first cooked up the idea for the Original Naabtal Duo in the 1970s, but, despite a few performances with drummer Hubert Zaschka, it didn't take off until the mid-1980s. It wasn't until Edenharder, an accordion player, met singer Willi Seitz in 1985 that the project really came together. Three years later they won the `Grand Prix der Volksmusik' in Switzerland, beating competition from across German-speaking Europe and gaining the profile they needed to quit their respective jobs as a postman and textile salesman. The duo had a successful run up until 1993 before deciding to go their separate ways to pursue solo careers. They reunited a decade later, however, in 2003 and in 2005 they released the album 'Wir Sind Wieder Da', a collection that included songs written by Original Naabtal Duo fan club president Andreas Sedlmeier. A year later they had further success when they cheered the reign of Benedict XVI as pope with 'Unser Papst der Kommt aus Bayern'.
