Biography

Astrid Harzbecker, born on December 8, 1965 in Riesa, Germany, is a German composer, lyricist, and singer. She began her musical education early with training in singing, guitar, and piano. Harzbecker's breakthrough came with her participation in the Herbert Roth Festival in 1991, performing "Oh Maria, schütz die Berge", a song she wrote herself. In 1992, she received the Krone der Volksmusik as the Best Newcomer Singer. She became known for her distinctive voice and has covered successful titles such as "Zigeunerjunge" and "Gypsy Boy" by Alexandra. Harzbecker participated in the German pre-selection for the Grand Prix der Volksmusik with "Gondoliere" in 1996, and won it in 2000 with "Wie eine schöne Sinfonie". Her notable albums include Wenn Die Sehnsucht Brennt (1994) and Amore Titanic (2000).
