Biography

Christopher Mark Alfaro, known as Free the Robots, is an electronic music producer from Santa Ana, California. Alfaro began a career in 2003 while playing with various bands and performing as a DJ. The debut release was Free the Robots EP (2007). In 2010, Free the Robots released the album Ctrl Alt Delete (2010), featuring Isaiah "Ikey" Owens. Alfaro blends jazz, dubstep, psychedelic music, electronic music, hip hop, and ancestral Filipino influences. The album DATU (2019) mixed samples from Filipino albums with organic percussion and nature noises. In 2022, Alfaro released Kaduwa (2022), which was inspired by a year-long stay in the Philippines during the COVID-19 pandemic. Collaborations include “Strange Light” (2016) with DJ Krush and “Sallem” (2018) with Emel Mathlouthi. Other recordings include Prototype (2005) and The Balance (2013).
