Biography

Richard Mthetwa, known professionally as Nozinja, was born in Giyani, Limpopo, South Africa. He started his career running mobile phone repair shops before transitioning into music production and DJing. Nozinja is credited with creating and popularizing the 'shangaan electro' genre of African dance music, which blends traditional folk, Tsonga disco, Kwaito house, and township backstreet dance styles from Limpopo. Nozinja's debut album Nozinja Lodge was released in 2015 under Warp Records, featuring the track "Tsekeleke". His work has been championed by electronic producers such as Caribou and Ben UFO.
