Biography

Notekillers, an American avant-rock band from Philadelphia, was formed in 1977 by David First on guitar, Stephen Bilenky on bass, and Barry Halkin on drums. The group began as Dead Cheese, a local psychedelic rock band active between 1968 and 1971. After a hiatus, the trio reunited in 1976 and officially started Notekillers in early 1977. They opened for Misfits and DNA before releasing their first single, "The Zipper" b/w "Clock Wise", in 1980 on American Bushmen Records. Despite favorable reviews for their performances and their music, Notekillers disbanded in 1981. After the compilation Notekillers (1977-1981) was released in 2004, the band reunited for performances and began working on a new album in 2006. They released the album We're Here To Help on Prophase Records in 2010.
