Biography
Nick Thorburn, known professionally as Nick Diamonds, was born on November 27, 1981, in Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada. He is a singer and frontman of several bands including The Unicorns and Islands. Thorburn's music career began with his involvement in various indie rock groups. In 2003, he released Unicorns Are People Too and Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone? as part of The Unicorns. Thorburn also fronted the band Islands and released their debut album Return to the Sea in 2006. Notable collaborations include co-writing "Do They Know It's Hallowe'en?" with Adam Gollner in 2005 and contributing to El-Pâs Cancer 4 Cure album in 2012, where he sang the chorus of "Stay Down". Thorburn also composed the theme music for the critically acclaimed podcast Serial in 2014. His solo work includes albums like I Am an Attic (2011) and City of Quartz (2015).
