Kaseem Ryan, known professionally as KA, was an American rapper born on August 11, 1972, in New York City. He grew up in Brooklyn's Brownsville neighborhood and developed an interest in hip-hop at a young age, inspired by artists like Slick Rick. Ryan began his musical journey with the duo Nightbreed, releasing the single "2 Roads Out the Ghetto" in 1998. His debut solo album, Iron Works, was released in 2008 and garnered attention from Wu-Tang Clan member GZA, leading to a collaboration on GZA's 2008 album Pro Tools. KA continued his career with albums such as Grief Pedigree (2012) and The Night's Gambit (2013). He was also known for his work as a firefighter, serving as an FDNY fire captain in Brooklyn. KA passed away on October 12, 2024, at the age of 52.
